MGOM

So far I have not been in class. I missed two days. I feel like I am going to change my approach to my topic. I will probably give a lecture about indigenous culture. Most know about the Aztecs and Mayans. Just heard the name before but not know the whole story. Besides the Aztecs and Mayan, I want to explore about different group of people that we probably never heard of. I remember being presented with the information but I lost that memories. So now I have to do research to get the most accurate information. How many people I share, just me. I intend to present it to whoever is in the presentation, meaning in the class.

IGNITE TALK

What does it mean to identify as indigenous or relate with it? During the break I attended Raza College Day mainly focusing on latinx culture and CE'ENI Indigenous Conference which focused on the indigenous pride, identity, culture and etc.. What I learn and knew previously the stories, people were willing to share through their experiences about growing up with a culture many did not understand. Workshops.... The connection I have is with Fahrenheit 451 and how society tries so hard to hide and change others around them. Next I will be conducting more research about indigenous identity and culture.

Random Notes Related to Fahrenheit 451

Synecdoche : Where a part of something stands for a whole thing Example: Montag's Hands in Fahrenheit 451 Displacement: the unconscious transfer of an intense emotion from its original object to another one Anachronism: is a chronological inconsistency in some arrangement, especially a juxtaposition of person(s), events, objects, or customs from different periods of time. (Source-Bing) juxtaposition: the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect: Schema : File of cabinet, the way we organize our ideas Philosophy is the love of Wisdom

THE CHASE IS ON

pgs. 114-122 1.Why did the Hound attack Montag? The Hounds wanted to stop Montag. He is a criminal after he killed Beatty. The hounds tried to inject Montag with something that caused him numbness. 2. How did Montag defend himself? Montag was quick to turn the flamethrower to the hound. He burned it until be saw the metal light with red yellow colors. 3. What did Montag realize about Beatty? How can Beatty know so much about what is wrong with book, he can even do a whole presentation. Most important Beatty wanted to die. 4. Where did Montag go? Montag was running towards Faber's house, he had no other place to go expect Faber. No friends except Faber. 5. What happened when Montag crossed the street? A beetle's engine roared as he crossed the street. Montag held tight of his four books, tried to be calm. Each time it was coming closer and closer.

RUN MONTAG RUN

Prediction: Montag will run from the community he lives in. He will find other people that think like him, someone like Clarisse. Fahrenheit 451 is like The Giver where the protagonist realized the society was brainwashed. He did everything possible to escape the society he lived in. Either he lives the rest of his life hiding, he could preach to others the importance of book, why it was keep hidden, the purpose, he dies or a complete blur and wants the reader to think for themselves what would happen to Montag.

MONTAG KILLS

Why Montag turned the flamethrower on Beatty? Montag killed Beatty with a flamethrower, he wanted to protect himself from being arrested, even worst be killed. He was also threating Faber's life. Beatty was also mocking him, for trying to "preach" so calls Beatty. Make others want to read books and poems. That Montag was a fool of himself to think this way, a total fool of himself. Beatty was the representation of the society, he wanted things to maintain the same, especially a certain way. Reading books would have made them think from themselves for once in their lives. Said this is WRONG. Questioned

FAHRENHEIT 451: Two the Sieve nd the Sand Mildred only care out people behind the screen Montag knows, Clarisse was the only one, cared about him Back then Montag would not confront Mildred Prescient Montag had stolen a book Mildred never cares what Montag says, she only cares about fake character, el chisme.

FAHRENHEIT 451

FAHRENHEIT 451 Reading Part 4 "HAPPINESS" Mildred is trying to give her husband, Montag- traitor " The home environment can undo a lot you try to do at school"  Clarisse family was an odd ball Beatty describes Clarisse as the opposite Montag knew Start school as soon as they are born Clarisse wants to know  WHY things are done not HOW

Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 Reading Day Part 3 The Pedestrian is Clarisse's uncle Montag wanted a kid but Mildred did not Social is different from her school to talking to Montag Environment is unsafe "Children kill each other"   They had mass shooting it is prediction of the future Montag does not feel like the other firefighters Montag want to be more human Police come first, taking the victim-hurting them Usually Montag would come the house was empty, then burn The woman burn her own books Did the woman die?"

Table Reading with Questions

1.The novel Fahrenheit 451 begins : “It was a pleasure to burn.” Why does Ray Bradbury start the novel in this way? Why might it be more pleasurable to burn books rather than read them? Ray Bradbury might starts with this way as a unique starting. Gives an interest to the readers about burning books than to read it. Why? Just Why? 2. In the opening scene, why are the books compared to birds? Could be the bird is the representation of freedom. As read so far people don't have much freedom. 3. In a way is too curious where it becomes dangerous. 4. How does the technology within the novel compare to our current technology? In the firs

FAHRENHEIT

Fahrenheit 451 Reading Day Part 1 & 2 "He turned the corner." Made something happen? Meet Clarissa: seventeen and crazy She asked many questions that seems very oblivious to readers "Are you happy?"  the man respond OF COURSE! Foreshadowing: Something is hidden in the ventilator She tried to kill herself- something about 30 pill: not dead because she is still breathing Montag is cut in half, shocked and panic He says a machine come but. WHAT I SEE IN LITERATURE

Imagery in The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock By T. S. Eliot The yellow fog that rubs its back upon the window-panes, The yellow smoke that rubs its muzzle on the window-panes, Licked its tongue into the corners of the evening (With the lines you can just vision what the writer is saying, it's easily imaginable.) Imagery in The Great Gatsby The green light (The way I interpret the green light is the distance between Gatsby and Daisy's love.) Eyes (The eyes would represent the one that sees everything like in a way GOD) Valley of ashes (Between West Egg and East Egg= The separation of the Rich to the Poor)

What Eliot meant by "Love Song"

Discussion Don't know who them IS The person is trying to be influenced by others There surroundings are either right or wrong  The person is confused in a way Love interest

Discussion

A waste land was aa meme Good writer started a good reader a good poem, story make us forget our surrounding insidious= it gonna hurt ya, evil intent modernism future necessarily is not better than the past Extended metaphor Dare? Someone is getting old- Why point it out? hold themselves high in steam

The Great Gatsby

Chapter 9 Notes News of Gatsby death spread as wildfire Press keep asking Nick about Gatsby Nick tries to call Daisy but he finds she and tom had left on a trip No one come to Gatsby side except Nick  he'd = he  would Nick tries to invited people to Gatsby's funeral but no one wants to come He goes on to see Jordan and Tom So Nick in the end is the only one left to keep Gatsby memory alive. What did I miss? Classic modernism that the future not necessary is better than the past. (Domino effect) What if Myrtle never died  and Gatsby would have been alive) What is Daisy turn a different direction

The Great Gatsby

Chapter 8 Notes Gatsby house is all moldy, dusty Not clean anymore in the beginning Daisy is not as close to him anymore I wonder if Gatsby loved the real her and if he really knew who she was Instead of the old Daisy Gatsby keeps saying goodbye and thanks Gatsby keeps waiting for a call from Daisy Gatsby is shot Nick and three other find him dead in the pool Denouement means resolution

The Great Gatsby

Gatsby Chapter 7 Gatsby fired all his servants Gatsby goes to Daisy's house and Tom there is in charged Daisy says she loves Gatsby and never loved Tom Tom say random things to hear him speak Gatsby meet Daisy's daughter "Her voice is full of money" Tom does not realized what is going on between Gatsby and Daisy Tom is shocked that Myrtle was leaving to the West no matter what Tom there realized that that both Daisy and Myrtle are leaving him It out of his control and everything he had was going to disappear Tom is in the receiving end Tom is call Gatsby is a lair There is conflict

Chapter 3 Remix

We learn that Nick is invited to Gatsby's great party  There were see that he was the only one that got an invitation.  While the other one did not but they told many different stories about Gatsby. They said all this without knowing him and even never seen him in person. Nick meets Gatsby and does not except him to be the way he image. He imaged him to be an old and obese man.

Chapter 3 Gatsby Notes

Nick goes to Gatsby party He finds that he is the only one invited Literally all the people that come don't know who Gatsby is or beverage had met him before  he hears alot of stories about who Gatsby was and what he did He sees Gatsby and didn't expect what he saw he thought he was going to be fat (corpulent) and old man She is curiosity dishonest  I am the few honest people that I have known

The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby Chapter 1 We learn about the narrator who is also a character in the book. We read that this story going have to be about the Great Gabtsy. We meet Tom who does not seem a good person. The cousin Daisy who is very out going and her friend. What the narrator finds the most mysterious is Gabtsy. He see him at the end of the dock looking at a green light.

The Great Gatsby

Epigraph: quote that shows in the beginning of a book We are going to know Gatsby through the words of the narrator  Gatsby is okay but there is something missing  Tom is not a good person  He seems as a controlling person  There two young women  Unfortunately I seen the movie first. MUSIC AS LITERATURE

Music is literature that is expressed in a different form such as rap, poem, symphony, and plays. Like literature written as stories it has themes. It conveys a message throughout, there a conflict that need to be solved like any written work.
